Once proposed changes to the National Model Codes publications are recommended by the relevant code development committee(s), the Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes invites Code users and stakeholders to participate in the review of those changes during public review periods.

The public review process provides code users and stakeholders with a detailed look at the proposed changes being considered and an opportunity to comment on whether the proposed changes should be approved, modified or withdrawn. Comments received can also inform improvements to the proposed changes being considered.

Public reviews are held on-line up to three times annually, and span over two months. As the provinces and territories sometimes hold their own public reviews on proposed changes to provincial or territorial codes, please check with your provincial or territorial ministry responsible for construction codes.
