The proposed changes included in this public review addressed the following topics in the National Building Code of Canada, the National Fire Code of Canada, the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings, and the National Plumbing Code of Canada:<\/p>\n<h3>National Building Code of Canada<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Fenestration<\/li>\n<li>Building envelope<\/li>\n<li>Greenhouse gas emissions<\/li>\n<li>Updates to referenced documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Performance compliance \u2013 Energy modeling software requirements<\/li>\n<li>Performance compliance \u2013 Exceptional calculation methods<\/li>\n<li>Updates to referenced documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>National Fire Code of Canada<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Encapsulated Mass Timber Construction<\/li>\n<li>Updates to referenced documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>National Plumbing Code of Canada<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Updates to referenced documents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>See the <strong>summary of key proposed changes<\/strong> below for more details.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of this public review was to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide code users, the Codes community, and the public with a detailed look at proposed technical changes,<\/li>\n<li>seek comment on each proposed technical change as to whether it should be approved, altered or withdrawn, and<\/li>\n<li>seek comments on updates to documents referenced in the National Model Codes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The public review closed at <strong>11:59 pm PST on December 19, 2024, after which comments are no longer accepted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The result of the public review process is a collection of comments on proposed code changes. The comments are sorted and analyzed by Codes Canada staff who are familiar with the development of the proposed changes, and who develop a draft resolution to each comment. The draft resolutions are validated by the responsible code development committees, which form the recommendations to the CBHCC.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendations could be one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>approve for publication,<\/li>\n<li>revise for publication,<\/li>\n<li>defer publication pending further development \u2013 subject to subsequent public review, or<\/li>\n<li>withdraw proposed code change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The CBHCC decides which changes will be published in the next edition of the National Model Codes based on the recommendations of the code development committees.<\/p>\n\n<style id=\"ea_dynamic_css6576\">#sp-ea-6576 .spcollapsing{height: 0;
